I've been a massive supporter of British Airways over the years and for some time they really got it right and were the best in the business. However I've had it with them now - my wife and I had a flight from Singapore where the cabin staff were surely, the food inedible and they couldn't turn the temperature of the plane down. It's not good enough and British Airways there fore receive a Ditched Helicopter Award for lousy service.

Emirates Airlines
Singapore Airlines and Emirates Airlines on the other hand are simply the best. I have many excellent example of outstanding service - including recently when my SQ flight developed a fault and we had a plane change.
So both of them get The Golden Helicopter Award for outstanding Service.

BA service
I recently flew to Singapore on BA. I booked with them because their web site describes the benefits of the World Traveller Plus service as including "In-seat power for laptops" and "Wider, more comfortable seats".
After take off, I discovered that the "In-seat power for laptops" required a special adaptor that BA would kindly sell to you for £99 (this was not mentioned ANYWHERE on their web site). The seats, though wider than standard class, did not recline any further and were of a uniquely uncomfortable design rendering sleep an unlikely prospect. The last straw was that the entertainment system broke 1 hour into the flight!
When I mentioned my displeasure to the cabin crew and was told that I was not the first to complain about the power adaptor and entertainment system. In fact, one stewardess told me that the entertainment system regularly broke on 747's and this was why she was flying to the USA, for her wedding anniversary, on Virgin!!!
Needless to say, I shall be following the example of BA's own staff and chosing an alternative airline next time.
